Located in the picturesque village of Drumshanbo, 10 km north of Carrick on Shannon, the School for music, dance and language presents the unique opportunity to discover Irish rural culture in an authentic setting .
While at the school, students benefit from the unforgettable experience of total immersion into the culture and the language. Students live in a hostel accommodation, see daily life and dine on traditional cuisine. The days are filled with lively local music, excursions and trips to nearby villages. Local professional teachers and performers conduct the lessons. The school’s faculty use traditional teaching methods, and music and vocal students learn by ear.
Drumshanbo School of Music is a residential summer school based in the North West of Ireland. The course was formed to offer local and overseas Irish music enthusiasts the opportunity to immerse themselves in the unique musical culture of Ireland. Through a structured programme of workshops, lectures, demonstrations, sessions, excursions and activities, the Drumshanbo School of Music offers a unique experience to all.
